Expected Hours:

Full time. 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday. (Office Based role)

Freight Forwarder

Scan Europe Logistics is looking for an experienced Road Freight Forwarder to join their expanding team in Carrington, Manchester! The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth operation of our import and export processes from start to finish. This role requires a strong understanding of logistics, effective data entry skills, vendor negotiation, and proficiency with various software tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Process customer bookings via email or phone using in-house IT systems.

Manage all operational aspects of import and export movements from start to finish.

Provide quotations for freight services (groupage/full loads to and from Europe or worldwide by air/sea).

Arrange and prepare customs documentation.

Respond promptly to customer enquiries, ensuring customer-focused resolutions.

Negotiate rates with airlines, carriers, and customs clearing agents to maximize profitability.

Maintain and build positive relationships with suppliers.

Stay updated on market developments and competitor information.

Promote the business to new and existing clients via phone, email, and social media.

Collaborate with the Transport Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Experience in road freight forwarding is an essential.

Proficiency with IT, including Microsoft Excel.

Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail.

Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with partners, customers, and hauliers.

Ability to work well within a team environment while also being self-motivated.

Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in road freight forwarding.

Sales / Customer Service experience.

Good knowledge of shipping and logistics processes.

2+ years of experience in a similar role.
