Who we areThe Grocer is the UK's biggest, most interesting and most widely respected B2B publication, and the trusted source of the xc2xa3210bn Food & Drink industry.A multi-award-winning, multi-media powerhouse, it prides itself on its outstanding journalism, editorial integrity and creativity.It's the flagship of the highly successful William Reed group, a family-owned global media group, powering customer success through insight, inspiration and connection across content, events, conferences, and research in the UK, Europe, US and Far East, and sits within the retail, manufacturing and hospitality division, which also includes Retail Week and Morning Advertiser.PositionPosition: Full time (35hrs per week), permanentThe Grocer is looking for a smart, curious reporter to deliver regular insightful and interesting news, as well as blogs, features, profiles and audio/video content, on the vibrant, colourful and fast-changing grocery scene.You'll be specialising in the booming food to go sector, reporting on the fortunes of leading high-street food to go brands, including fast food chains, bakery chains, coffee shop chains, convenience stores and supermarkets, as well as the wholesalers, buying groups and specialist suppliers who support them and other foodservice outlets, including schools, hotels, restaurants, prisons and other public sector caterers.It's a fascinating patch and requires a journalist with a nose for news, an understanding of how B2B publishing works, and the appetite to cover a broad array of topics, including business strategy and financial performance, legislation, technology, people development, product and format innovation, pricing & promotion, sourcing, ranging, marketing etc.Standards are high, but for the right candidate, the role offers huge job satisfaction, the chance to work with a large team of award-winning journalists on an innovative and progressive publication, together with lots of training and career development opportunities, and a competitive salary and benefits.What you'll be doingYour focus will be on providing The Grocer with on-diary and off-diary news, analysis and insight about the leading players in the sector, including major high street food to go chains, foodservice wholesalers, buying groups and specialist suppliers. There will also be an expectation that you will cover broader trends in food to go from the grocery retail side.You'll be expected to source, develop and nurture top-level contacts, attend key trade events, such as conferences and exhibitions, and represent The Grocer to showcase your expertise via media appearances.RequirementsWhat you'll need
