Food & Beverage AssistantJoin our team at the Roe Park Resort, where you can be part of creating unforgettable experiences in one of Northern Ireland's top golf and spa resorts, nestled in the breathtaking Roe Valley Country Park.Be a part of our commitment to providing guests with the perfect blend of luxury, tranquillity, and exceptional service.We have an exciting opportunity for a Food and Beverage Assistant to join our team!Job purpose: To increase guest satisfaction by providing prompt, efficient, trouble-free and courteous food and beverage service connected with meeting and greeting guests, taking orders, serving food and beverages and ensuring guests receive a four-star Roe Park Resort experience.DEPARTMENT: Food & BeverageEMPLOYMENT TYPE: CasualREPORTS TO: Restaurant ManagerAbout the rolePROVIDE EFFICIENT, PROMPT, TROUBLEFREE, AND COURTEOUS SERVICETo ensure that the service is at all times performed in a professional manner and to the style as specified by the Restaurant Manager/Supervisor.To be fully conversant with every menu item and to provide explanations as requested and promote additional sales accordinglyTo ensure that all guests' wishes are met so far as is reasonably possible.Provides efficient, prompt, trouble free and courteous service by bussing, serving and setting tablesTo communicate with other staff and departmentsAccurately records, pre-checks and picks up all food and beverage ordersServes guests their food and beverage promptly and courteouslySets tables as needed prior to guest arrivalEnsures that the working area and station are stocked with mise-en-place and kept clean and tidy at all timesEnsures the smooth running of the assigned station at all timesPromotes additional sales by taking opportunities to up-sell, in manner that is professional and courteousIs familiar with all equipment relating to the RestaurantMakes clear orders to kitchen production and bar regarding beverages, register orders according to hotel proceduresConfers with the Restaurant Manager/Supervisor concerning set-ups and last-minute changes.Checks the restaurant reservations list frequently during the shiftTo report all comments/complaints/problems to the Restaurant Manager/SupervisorProvide service of food and beverage to guests at weddings, functions, private dinners etcKNOWLEDGE OF RESTAURANT PRODUCTS, TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENTIs fully conversant with the Restaurant POS (point of sale) systemIs able to operate credit card machines and other key equipmentHas a good understanding of all items contained within the menus and wine listsHas a knowledge of the products the Hotel itself has to offerSECURITY, HYGIENE, HEALTH & SAFETYAcknowledge HACCP (Hazard analysis and critical control points)Responsible for cleanliness of all items and equipment in your work areaAdheres to HOTEL policy on grooming, dress code, personal hygiene, body language and conductFull understanding of cash handling proceduresReports any suspicious behaviour of guests and staff to the Manager and securityEnsures that all discrepancies in cash are reported to the Manager/SupervisorMaintains high confidentiality in regard to guest privacyNotifies Manager regarding lost and found propertyEnsures that all potential and real hazards are reported immediatelyFully understand the Hotel's fire, emergency, and bomb proceduresWorks in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or othersSupports a safe working environment by applying the Hotel's regulations and adhering to existing laws and regulationsMISCELLANEOUSAssists the Restaurant Manager or Supervisor when requestedAttends meetings and training sessions as required by the Restaurant Manager or HotelAccepts flexible work schedule required for restaurant and hotel operationsAbility to come to work regularly and on time, to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with co-workers/supervisors/managers to treat co-workers, supervisors/managers and members/guests with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate and /or violent behaviourRespect hotel property and that of guests and fellow employeesMaintains the highest standard of personal hygiene, dress, uniform, appearance, body language and conductAssists other departments when requiredMay be required to carry out additional duties not listed to suit the business demands.Continuously seeks to endeavour professionalism in own job functionKnows:o Hotel fire, bomb and emergency procedureso Hotel health and safety policies and procedureso Hotel facilities and nearby sights of interest and importance (ie hospitals, stations, tourist sights)o Hotel and corporate marketing and promotional programso Corporate clients and clients generating high business volumeAbout the companyWelcome to the Roe Park Resort, one of Northern Ireland's premier golf and spa resorts.   • Basic knowledge of restaurant and bar operations
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to spot errors and question information received
  • To have an understanding of what is good customer service
  • To understand the importance of upselling
  • Must be able to recall menu descriptions and drink orders
  • Can work under pressure and work various shifts as required
  • Must be able to travel to work
  • Must be able to work key shifts as required
  • Must be flexible with working hours
Desired Criteria
  • Positive sales attitude
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Must have one year's previous experience working in a public facing position, preferably bars, restaurants etc
  • Experience of cash handling
  • Can operate computerised Cash Register
