Affinity Flying Services supports the UK military air capability by playing a key part in the seamless progression of pilots through flying training. Under a landmark partnering programme with the Ministry of Defence, we supply and maintain three fleets of aircraft to deliver Elementary and Multi-Engine Flying Training within the UK Military Flying Training System (UKMFTS). Through technical advancement and commercial innovation, we deliver safe, airworthy aircraft to match the training needs of the next generation on the frontline.

We are currently looking for an Aircraft Flight Line Mechanic to join our team at RAF Valley. This is an interesting role supporting the flight line operation including the safe departure, arrival and turnaround of aircraft including marshalling, towing, aircraft cleaning and other general duties.

Roles & Responsibilities



Ensure the efficient, effective, and safe arrival, turnround and departure of Aircraft.

Marshalling aircraft between the hangar and the flight line.

Towing and brake riding of Texan Aircraft between the flight line and hangar.

Complete an arrivals process which includes the safe handling procedures such as chocking and securing the aircraft.

Complete turnaround duties, preparing the aircraft for the next departure.

Ready the departure aircraft, handing the aircraft over from ground operations to the aircrew and ensuring the aircrew are supported and settled within the cockpit.

Marshal the aircraft from apron slot to taxiway ensuring the safe departure, working in conjunction with the flight line supervisor.

Undertake Flight line safety duties (line walker). Ensuring the safety of all personnel during aircraft movements

Operate calmly and safely whilst in a sometimes-challenging, safety critical environment.

Management and use of Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

Carry out and complete GSE inspections ensuring GSE is safe to use.

Ensure you up to date and complaint SMIBs (Safety & Maintenance Information Bulletin), OSIBs (Operations safety information bulletins), and Read and Signs.

Promote?and endorse?a positive?Equality,?Quality, and?Health & Safety culture. Ensuring appropriate safety behaviours are demonstrated and always maintained.

Report any safety issues through AEMS (Affinity error management system).

Ensure all competencies and training required are up to date.

Essential Experience



A demonstrable track record of adherence to health and safety within the workplace.

Experience of working closely with multi-site teams, building relationships, and leveraging them to deliver outstanding performance in a highly regulated environment.

Essential Qualifications



Education to a minimum GCSE level.

Ability to acquire UK security clearance.

Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience



At least 1 years' experience of working within an aviation setting.

Proficiency in use of common software packages including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, Power BI, Microsoft Project.

Demonstrable experience of working as part of a team within a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of practical and theoretical standards within the aviation industry.

Desirable Qualifications



NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) from a technical background.
This is a full-time permanent position based on 40 hours a week.

Applicants must have eligibility to work in the UK, a full driving licence and their own transport. If you're successful, you will be required to undertake MOD Security clearance which includes 3 years' reference checks, and you'll need to verify your right to work in the UK.
