The Fleet IT Technical Engineer is a technical and practical role working in an outsourced environment to provide IT technical knowledge and practical infrastructure delivery of IT services to our client\xe2\x80\x99s fleet of vessels globally located.
IT services on vessels broadly includes the disciplines of servers, storage, backups, network, power/UPS, desktop. It is expected that the individual will have a niche skill from one of these areas but be competent in most other and have an appreciation of interdependencies of services.
There is a practical aspect to this role where the individual will be required to deliver work end to end which will include racking, connection and configuration.
There is a requirement to undertake adhoc vessel visits as part of project delivery \xe2\x80\x93 therefore flexibility to travel is key. This is primarily an office/workshop based position based in Aberdeen.
Key Requirements
Build, configure and Deliver to a defined design specification from the disciplines mentioned above.
Work with Fleet IT Team Manager & Project Manager to provide technical project delivery.
Proactive problem management in conjunction with support teams, for issues or outages relating to supported business as usual services in line with service criticality expectations.
Contribute to technical design for new and upgraded Fleet IT solutions, working closely with IT Architecture teams on defining and applying technology standards in vessel environment.
Complete standardised technical documentation.
Define projects requirements. Working together with our client and stakeholders in business areas to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
Keep up to date with industry standards and developments.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
IT degree level education or equivalent experience
Relevant experience of IT infrastructure, server, cloud, network, communication architectures and applications.
Knowledge of industry standards and current technology trends.
Understanding of IT operational risk management, project delivery and service methodologies (e.g. ITIL, ISO).
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Proven IT projects implementation skills.
Excellent communication both verbal and written with strong team player mindset and an ability to foster good professional relationships with client and project stakeholders.
Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines with a pragmatic and flexible approach.
Enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated.
Able to work with minimal supervision and take responsibility for moving projects and work forward.
Ability and flexibility to travel \xe2\x80\x93 sometimes at short notice.
