We\'re seeking an enthusiastic Fixture Design Engineer to join our dynamic, flexible, forward-thinking team to help support the development of all the early physical prototype builds for JLR. You\'ll be primarily responsible for the design of unique prototype Body-in-White (BIW) tooling and fixtures; this will also include battery cells/stacks, battery frames and cladding.

You\'ll have experience designing and developing BIW tooling and fixtures using the Catia V6 CAD platform with a sound knowledge of the whole BIW assembly process. Key to this role will be the confidence to communicate your designs to stakeholders across JLR.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential:

• Proficient in Assembly Design & Part design workbenches using Catia V6.
• Background in BIW Assembly Construction.
• Understanding / appreciation of BIW joining techniques & equipment
• Intensive design experience designing BIW assembly tooling
• Proficient IT skills with significant experience of using virtual engineering tools.
• Ability to analyse and present data to lead engineers and seniors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

• Design experience in low volume tooling.
• Previous experience of working within a prototype build environment would be beneficial but not essential.
• A solid understanding on how things are made. Machining principles, Milling, turning, mechanical assembly (Jigs and Fixtures) etc. to enable design for manufacture.

• Served an apprenticeship
