The Monitoring and Assurance Lead is a leadership role with the overarching responsibilities for coordinating the production and maintenance of the independent financial crime assurance framework, overseeing the development of methodologies and execution of assurance activities over both internal and external 2LoD financial crime functions, as well as 1LoD financial crime control activities in the UK and globally, where delegated.
Financial crime responsibilities:Coordinate the production and maintenance of the Financial Crime Assurance Framework. Oversee the execution of financial crime assurance over internal and external 2LoD financial crime functions and the development of supporting methodologies. Oversee the execution of financial crime assurance over Business Unit 1LoD financial crime functions in the UK and globally, where delegated. Oversee the development and execution of the assurance and quality control ("QC") methodology, test scripts and plan over the Group Financial Crime Function. Oversee development and maintenance of the framework for 2LoD financial crime thematic assurance over 1LoD, and associated methodologies. Oversee the development and execution of the assurance plan for 2LoD financial assurance over 1LoD. Oversee the execution of independent financial crime controls testing activities over the Group financial crime controls as part of risk and controls-self assessment ("RCSA") for Group 2LoD Financial Crime. Oversee the execution of and methodology for financial crime risk model validation.

Additional responsibilities:Provide overall leadership for the Monitoring and Assurance team. Provide advice and guidance and act as a point of escalation for Group Financial Crime Assurance Function. Build collaborative relationships with Group and local Internal Audit stakeholders as well as Business Unit 1LoD financial crime teams responsible for 1LoD assurance to ensure Financial Crime Assurance Framework is fit-for-purpose, enterprise-wide, and sets out aligned approach across all 3LoD. Provide support to the Global Head of AFC in the day to day oversight of all Financial Crime related issues Other tasks and activities within the scope of your role or team as required from time to time.

Skill requirements:Significant experience within financial crime and being able to demonstrate deep understanding of the financial crime risks inherent in the asset management and/or insurance sectors. Experienced in designing and management of the control testing and assurance programmes for financial crime risk management. Experienced in design and management of ongoing thematic reviews on financial crime controls and processes and in identifying improvement needs. Experienced in summarising monitoring outcomes to aid senior management decision making including MLRO and governance committees Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders including Board, and communicate monitoring and assurance concepts clearly. Excellent reporting writing skills with an attention to detail and focus on achieving positive control enhancements.
