An opportunity has arisen for the position of Financial Controller based at Hermitage Court Maidstone (5 minutes walk to Maidstone Hospital). Ideally applicants should be studying towards a recognised accounting qualification, although this is not essential.
This is a full-time position based 3 days a week at Unit F, Hermitage Court and 2 days working from home.
The post holder will be part of the technical accounting team with varied responsibilities in a number of different areas. The key daily responsibility is to reconcile the Trust\xe2\x80\x99s cash balances to include prompt and accurate processing and investigation where appropriate. This also includes shared responsibility for ensuring that the Trust is reporting the true position of the assets and liabilities recorded in the Balance Sheet. This post manages two staff members.
The successful applicant must have at least 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working within a finance environment. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential together with the ability to deal with people at all levels.
You will need to be able to work effectively on your own and as part of a team, and must be able to prioritise a busy workload to meet deadlines. You will need to be organised and methodical, be proactive to improve processes and support the development of the team as well as being committed to your own personal development.
The Financial Controller manages the Technical Accounting Team to ensure that all cash issues of the Trust are managed on a day-to-day basis adhering to the appropriate Trust Policies and Procedures, Standing orders and Standing Financial Instructions, in order to provide accurate and timely information to support the accounts and other statutory returns.
This post has shared responsibility for achieving one of the Trusts key statutory targets, the External Financing Limit (EFL) which is set by the Department of Health and governs the closing bank balance of the Trust.
This post is the lead in the production of the Trust\xe2\x80\x99s Charitable Funds Accounts along with providing fully supporting auditable working papers.
The post-holder must demonstrate excellent communication, training and advisory skills, when investigating complex or sensitive issues referred for resolution by the Technical Accounting Team. This post has responsibility for the timely completion & initial review of control account reconciliations to ensure completeness & timely clearance of issues.
The post holder is additionally required to manage & report the Teams performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and proactively work with the Financial Services Management team to identify & implement working practice developments.
