The Role:
We are seeking a proactive and experienced
Financial Controller
to join our team. This is a newly created, senior position providing full-time leadership of the finance function. Reporting directly to the Executive Team, you will oversee financial operations, compliance, reporting, controls, and support the organisation's long-term financial strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Full responsibility for financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, and statutory accounts.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and best practices.
Maintain robust financial controls and procedures.
Produce monthly management accounts and board finance reports.
Support the Executive Team and Board with financial analysis and strategic insight.
Lead on financial audits and liaise with external auditors as required.
Oversee day-to-day finance processes, supported by the Finance Officer.
Lead on the organisation's transition to strengthened financial systems and reporting frameworks.
About You:
Proven experience in finance roles, ideally with previous Financial Controller or similar senior finance experience.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience managing full finance operations.
Experience working with senior executives and Boards.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently, proactively, and remotely.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
High standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, and integrity.
Essential Skills and Experience:
ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with financial software (Xero preferred).
Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to housing associations (desirable but not essential).
