The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. We work to promote public confidence in the democratic process and ensure its integrity. As one of two Senior Advisors for Procurement, you\xe2\x80\x99ll provide strategic commercial and contract management insight and expertise.
The role
We are looking for a skilled Financial Accountant to lead our technical accounting and financial reporting at the Electoral Commission. As a subject matter expert, you will be hands-on in preparing and delivering our annual report and accounts, ensuring compliance and mitigating financial risks.
The person
You will oversee financial accounting processes, ensuring compliance and addressing non-compliance issues. Your expertise will extend to managing transactional work, acting as an SME on taxation matters, and navigating regulatory requirements.
As a problem solver, you\'ll identify and address areas of concern, respond to internal audit findings, and contribute to the development of financial and taxation policies. Your autonomy extends to making decisions on financial reporting enhancements and driving creative solutions.
You should possess an advanced accounting qualification (CCAB) and already have a deep understanding of financial reporting, control systems, and processes.
As a leader, you will manage a team and collaborate cross-functionally, fostering a supportive working environment and continuous learning.
In this role, you\'ll have the autonomy to make decisions related to financial reporting enhancements and drive innovative solutions. You\'ll also play a key role in identifying and mitigating risks associated with financial changes and technology advancements.
We welcome the opportunity for the postholder to work from any of our offices, and this role will occasionally require visits to our London offices in Bunhill Row EC1Y. Aslo, we would consider potential job share (2 part timers)
The rewards
We offer competitive salaries, with this role attracting a salary of \xc2\xa360,000 (London) or \xc2\xa357,200 (outside London). You\xe2\x80\x99ll also be eligible for the Civil Service Pension scheme and generous holiday entitlement of 27.5 days (full time employee) plus public holidays, rising with length of service to 30 days. This opportunity offers flexible, hybrid working (2 days per week in one of our offices).
