Job Description

A great position has arisen for a Financial Accountant to work for a University based in London.

The purpose of this role is to provide technical assistance and cover to the Senior Financial Accountant by assuming lead responsibility for financial reporting, ensuring compliance with tax/ audit and corporate level financial planning.

Job responsibilities:

• Year-end processing of journals
• Year-end group accounts \xe2\x80\x93 preparation of notes, tables, analysis and liaising with Auditors
• Providing year end technical accounting assistance and advice to customers
• Drafting financial statements of all subsidiaries, for review and presentation to committees
• Technical analysis and preparation for tax calculation and liaison with external tax advisors
• Preparation of Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Forecasts, including variance analysis
• Preparation and processing of month end journals
• Update, report and provide technical analysis of the monthly cash flow forecast to understand variances and refine forecasting accuracy
• Management and preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations, producing a monthly report for senior management review
• Month end reporting and liaison with budget holders re their areas
• Leading on the operational side of treasury monitoring and reporting

Person Specification:

• Qualified with a recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA, ACA- Desirable)
• Experience of working in Higher Education (Desirable)
• At least 5 years relevant accounting experience in a finance department / team
• Familiarity with large-scale finance systems, including SAP and BW/ Agresso
• Excellent high-level Microsoft Excel and Word skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain technical finance

Hours: 35 hours per week

Hybrid Working Pattern: 3 days working in the office/ 2 days working from home
