Job Description


This role is ideal for experienced GP Practice Business Managers, Primary Care Operations Leads, or Healthcare Finance Managers looking for a senior strategic leadership position. While titled Finance & Strategy Executive, the role aligns closely with the responsibilities of a Senior GP Business Manager or Head of Primary Care Operations in a large practice setting.As Finance & Strategy Executive, you will:

  • Work alongside the existing management team to evaluate current financial and operational processes, identifying areas for improvement and efficiency.
  • Provide financial leadership during the practices restructuring, ensuring smooth transition and change management.
  • Oversee and collaborate with three new site-specific Operational Managers, supporting their development and aligning financial strategies with practice objectives.
  • Support the Partners and Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) in long-term financial planning and business transformation.

Primary Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic and Operational ManagementDevelop and implement strategic plans to meet practice objectives. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their responsibilities. Act as the primary liaison with NHS bodies, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), and other external stakeholders. Lead change management initiatives and foster continuous improvement across the organisation. Develop and embed an efficient business resilience/continuity plan. Ensure the practice complies with NHS contractual obligations and healthcare regulations, including CQC and GDPRFinancial ManagementManage the practice's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Oversee payroll, pensions, and partner drawings, ensuring compliance with NHS and legal requirements. Optimise income streams, including QOF, Enhanced Services, PCSE payments, and private revenue. Liaise with accountants, oversee accounts, and ensure timely presentation of year-end figures. Manage and process partner payments, PAYE, and staff pensions. Monitor financial contracts, insurance, and supplier agreements to maximize value.Human Resources ManagementOversee the functional management of all clinical and administrative staff. Direct line management of key staff and responsible for the wider team. Manage recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
