Lincolnshire South Federation of Women's Institutes (LSFWI) was formed in 1977 but the WI has been in the area since 1917 when the first Women's Institute in the area opened in Colsterworth. We have 51 very active institutes ranging from The Deepings in the south to Witham St Hugh's in the north. We have WIs of all sizes and of all age groups making up our membership of around 1700. As a Federation we offer social and educational events throughout the year organised by the Board of Trustees and our sub-committees. There are 2 permanent staff in the LSFWI office, the Finance Officer being one, who provide support to those events, to our WIs and to our membership. The trustees and the staff are a friendly team who work together to make the Federation as a whole run as smoothly as possible.
Reporting to the Federation Treasurer and responsible to the Board of Trustees as a whole, the post holder will be responsible for maintaining the Federation accounts. The Finance Officer will be expected to use Quickbooks to provide accurate and timely financial reports on income, expenditure and cash for monthly board meetings and finance committee meetings; to maintain good communication and liaise with WI members and the board of trustees; and to support the running of the office.
The successful applicant will work alongside the Federation Treasurer to ensure financial records are kept accurate and up to date, entering all monies received into Quickbooks, recording and processing all invoices received from suppliers and expense claims from trustees, handling cash and banking (including internet banking), and liaising with the wages agent and the Federation's accountants.
Additional responsibilities will be supporting WI Treasurers, WI Secretaries and WI members, responding to telephone calls and emails in a timely manner and providing support to the Federation Secretary in respect of the Annual Meeting and other major events, as well as general office administration.
There will also be a requirement to provide cover in the absence of the Federation Secretary.
In such a small office, it is essential that the successful applicant is a team player who can work unsupervised and understands when they can take the initiative and when they need to refer issues to the Trustees.
