Job overview

Newham Community Learning consists of 4 secondary and 2 primary schools, all located in the west of the borough of Newham. The Finance Officer - Primaries will work across our 2 primary schools. Key aspects of the role include:

• To work in liaison with the Trust Finance Officer to ensure the accuracy and sound control of financial transactions across the primary schools, in line with Newham Community Learning\'s finance policy.
• To support financial planning, systems and monitoring across the primary schools, liaising with the Trust\xe2\x80\x99s central finance function.
• To ensure the timely processing of all purchase requisitions, invoices, and other finance paperwork.

The role will be based at our primary schools, and will support the Headteachers on a day to day basis - with a solid reporting line to the Trust Finance Officer. To be successful in this role, you will need to:

• Enjoy a large degree of autonomy in how you allocate your time on a day to day basis;
• Be highly motivated and very well-organised;
• Be a strong communicator, able to build relationships with the Central Team and with the schools you serve;
• Be comfortable taking decisions - and equally, to know when advice should be sought from colleagues;
• Enjoy setting up, managing and maintaining systems and processes;
• Be a proficient user of PS Financials, the Trust\'s online platform used to manage all finances.

Newham Community Learning exists in order to provide an excellent education for all young people in our community. September 2023 - We are delighted to partner with Teach First to deliver our School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme. Teach First is a national charity that develops and supports teachers and leaders who are determined to make a difference where it is needed the most. As a training partner, we will be working with Teach First to deliver this one year teacher training programme, which enables participants to train and develop skills in the classroom.
