What you'll do



Provide the Director Finance, with a comprehensive financial reporting and financial management capability; both directly, and by drawing on the shared services provided elsewhere within the Finance organisation.


Work closely with Finance and Engineering leadership teams, to build and deliver the Strategic Plan and Operating Plan that is in line with the overall Corporate strategy and direction.

Business Partnering -

Act as finance business partner to the Engineering teams providing financial support and commercial guidance.Ensure that stakeholders and senior management are provided with timely, high quality financial analysis to aid decision making. Provide value adding financial insight, support and challenge by building effective working relationships at all levels, including senior managers and with other departments in the business. Working closely with Cost Centre Managers and VPs to efficiently and effectively manage expenditure. This includes, working closely with Procurement to identify efficiencies, monitoring and reporting on expenditure to ensure forecasts are up to date and balanced, with risks and opportunities documented Be proactively involved in preparation of investment cases, taking a lead or support role as necessary but always ensuring that a concise high quality business case is prepared in support of all major investment decisions. Together with the Director Finance, ensure that deliverables are monitored against the originally planned outcome and that necessary action is taken accordingly. Become a trusted advisor and influencer amongst key stakeholders.

Reporting and Forecasting

- Development and production of both the monthly reporting packsEnsure that the actual financial and operational results are provided to the Leadership and Exec teams on an accurate and timely basis together with a concise, action orientated, business focused commentary. To systematically and objectively review the performance of the business both actual and forecast, working with the director Finance to ensure that all material issues, risks and opportunities are promptly identified and addressed Support the director Finance to ensure that the function has in place an up-to-date, high-quality full year forecast that reflects all relevant material issues, opportunities and business plans, is prepared on a timely basis, shows the road map by which the required full year results will be delivered and which is owned by the management team

Budgeting and Long-Range Business Planning (Op Plan, Strat Plan) -

Lead the Op Plan and Strat Plan Process for the functions you support ensuring that Engineering has in place a high quality Op Plan and Strat Plan that reflects all relevant material issues and business plans, is consistent with and delivers the results required by the Group, is prepared on a timely basis and is owned management.

Integration

- Support finance integration activities between legacy Inmarsat and legacy Viasat. Be catalytic in improving financial processes across the combined organisation.

Financial analysis

- Lead proactively and reactively to provide ad hoc financial and operational analysis and advice that will help the leadership team to deliver optimal operational performance through high quality strategic and tactical business decisions.

Business performance management

- To play a proactive, catalytic, business and action orientated role by supporting the VP Finance to efficiently deliver the best medium term financial and operational results possible.

Interface to Group Finance

- Working with Group finance, ensure that the Group accounting, transaction processing and project management capabilities (together with other processes) are appropriate for the business unit. Sponsor and motivate improvements in core financial capability



What you'll need



Graduate with professional accounting qualification or equivalent. Progressive experience in finance / decision support and business partnering within quality companies. Superior analytical skills coupled with good strategic business understanding leading to key business insight. Ability to draw high quality analysis out of the results that drive decisions. Strong people skills, confident and comfortable at engaging collaboratively in an intellectual and multinational environment at all levels. Strong verbal and written communications skills. A commercially astute individual, the candidate must be technically strong, and influential with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
