Job Description


To assist the Financial Controller with the day to day running of the small and busy Finance Function.

  • Assist in the production of the management accounting information
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the daily operations of the Finance Function
  • Prepare and manage the monthly payroll function, as well as performing analysis and forecast reports
  • Manage systems to process payroll account transactions (eg salaries, benefits, deductions, taxes and third party payments).
  • Drive controls to ensure payroll is in-line with budget and business levels.
  • To drive and improve accounting controls relating to the provision of income and expenditure information.
  • To assess and, where relevant, improve the quality of recording of financial transactions for both the accounting and "in house" systems and to simplify procedures to support the management team.
  • To assess and, where relevant, improve internal financial procedures, including weekly/monthly management accounts and cashflow management.
  • Ensure all statutory reporting deadlines, including HMRC payments
  • To assist the SQ team in the absence of the Financial Controller.
  • To oversee the management of the company Sales Ledger function.
  • Assist with the preparation of information for quarterly management account external verification and for the annual audit.

Surgeons Quarter, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has developed its property and facilities to create an integrated conferencing and events facility within the College campus, including the stylish 129-bedroom hotel, Ten Hill Place Hotel.

The facilities lend themselves to a variety of activities and events including conferences, professional meetings, weddings, exhibitions and social events. SQ manage a large food and beverage operation, which includes management of venue bars, private banqueting and a high street caf\xc3\xa9, Caf\xc3\xa9 1505.

Salary range: \xc2\xa330,000 - \xc2\xa340,000 dependent on candidate experience
