Job Description


We are currently seeking a proactive Finance Director to join our client\'s dynamic, regulated law firm, which is on a trajectory of expansion across various legal service domains. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Finance Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and overseeing the financial affairs of the firm.

As an integral member of the management team, the Finance Director will oversee the financial operations of the organization, including the management of a small team. This role will have a hybrid office arrangement.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Comprehensive financial reporting, including monthly reports, budgeting, forecasting, 3-year financial plans, and statutory financial reporting
  • Playing a vital role in shaping the firm\'s business strategy by presenting financial results and furnishing financial support and insights to the management team for informed decision-making
  • Oversight of taxation affairs, cash flow, banking, borrowing arrangements, and collaboration with external specialist advisors
  • Rigorous Risk Management to establish a robust risk framework, with particular emphasis on Client Money
  • Offering expert advice and implementing best practices to enhance revenue and reduce costs
  • Efficient management and tracking of budget and accounting information, encompassing billing, collections, and tax-related data
  • Managing relationships with External Auditors and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
  • Supervising Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Tax, Payroll, Financial, and Management Accounting functions

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior financial management role with a proven track record of success
  • Preferably, a degree in accounting and finance; professional accounting qualifications such as CIMA or ACCA would be advantageous
  • Experience with solicitors accounting rules and client money regulations (background in the legal sector would be beneficial
  • Financial services indusry experience
  • Candidates should either reliably commute to Stevenage, SG1
  • 5 years of management experience prefered
