This is an exciting opportunity to join the Global News and Streaming Finance team within BBC Studios. The BBC is one of the world's leading international news and media organisations, and the world's most trusted international news broadcaster. Global audiences can access accurate, impartial news via BBC World News (24 hour news channel) and BBC.com, along with a broad range of insightful and in-depth features across our global streaming and podcast services.
Global News and Streaming are seeking to recruit a CP&A focused Finance Business Partner on a permanent basis. The role will report to the Senior Finance Business Partner and work closely with multiple financial and non-financial stakeholders across Studios and Public Service. The role will be pivotal to the delivery of the end to end budget and forecast, and strengthening and improving planning processes to ensure robust, accurate and efficient forecasting and reporting across World news, Global Ad Sales and Digital News and Streaming.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Lead annual and medium term planning processes (Budget and in-year forecasts) with full P&L and cash focus, working with finance colleagues and stakeholders from across commercial, digital, ad sales and operations teams, considering headcount, revenue, costs and balance sheet and accurate coding and phasing
Manage the planning cycle timeline, ensuring the team is fully briefed on the forecast process to ensure it is delivered on time, meeting all project deadlines
Keep up to date with actual performance against budget and use problem solving skills and initiative to proactively investigate and assess implications for full year outlook, and analyse risks and opportunities in the plan to ensure a balanced forecast
Responsible for budgets and quarterly forecasts presentations, along with ad hoc management reports for senior leadership, with ability to take innovative approaches to presenting information, processes, and metrics to facilitate effective engagement with senior stakeholders.
Provide regular and ad hoc reporting and analysis to the wider business to inform key decisions and activities, include ongoing monitoring of initiative performance against financial and non-financial KPIs and project cost tracking
Partner with and develop and maintain excellent relationships with all relevant stakeholders, work closely with with FBP DN&S and FBP Ad Sales and A&R and be the key contact for Public Service colleagues
Work with counterparts across the business to build robust and efficient data processes to improve financial processes and performance, including new process design and perform reconciliations across systems and subledgers as and when required
Work with stakeholders to prepare and review business cases, investment proposals and key projects, providing relevant analysis and insight to assess financial impact

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Professional accounting qualification ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
Previous experience of budgeting, business planning and forecasting including system uploads
Effective interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Must possess the ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex financial data to a range of audiences
Ability to work collaboratively, juggling multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and tight timelines
Experience of process improvement and supporting the delivery of effective financial systems and controls including complex reconciliations
Experience of working with financial accounting systems and Microsoft Office suite of products

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
Knowledge of and/or experience in the media/broadcasting sector
