Overall purpose of the Job:
Blackburn Rovers Community Trust (BRCT) is the award-winning independent charitable arm of founding member of the EFL and the Premier League - Blackburn Rovers FC.
Using the brand of Blackburn Rovers FC and the power of football and sport for positive social change, we are seeking to appoint a Finance Assistant. Reporting to the Head of Finance, People and Policy and to be responsible for the daily processing of key accounting functions, including cash, bank, purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, and contributing to the preparation of financial reports, budgets and forecasting. You will also assist on our quarterly management account reporting, VAT returns and our annual audit.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This is not a comprehensive list of all the tasks which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken:
Sales and Purchase ledger day to day accounting functions including payment processing
Process donations, grants, and other income, ensuring accurate recording and allocation
Reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and credit card transactions
Complete the administrative element to monthly payroll
Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records in line with charity accounting standards
Assist with monitoring income and expenditure across multiple funding streams and projects
Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and year-end accounts
Support the head of Finance, People and Policy with audits and external reporting requirements (e.g., Charity Commission, funders, HMRC)
Ensure financial policies and procedures are followed and assist with their review
Liaise with staff and volunteers to provide financial support and guidance
General:

Person Specification
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications:
Essential:
Accounting Qualification: AAT Level 4 or equivalent
Practical experience advantageous
Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
A team player who works well meeting daily demands
A good working knowledge of Sage and Microsoft Excel
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with non-finance colleagues
A proactive and process-driven approach.
Able to abide by the Code of Ethics and maintain strict confidentiality
Understanding of or willingness to learn about charity finance and relevant regulations
Commitment to the values and mission of the organisation
Desirable:
Previous experience working with Charity Accounts and knowledge of SORP
Knowledge of fund accounting or restricted/unrestricted income
Familiarity with Gift Aid and donor management systems
