Job Overview:

We are seeking two experienced and compassionate

female support workers

to join the team at the National Autistic Society service in Skipton. This role involves providing direct care and support to an individual with autism, working both independently and alongside others. Shifts will include

lone working and sleep-ins

, in line with service requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide high-quality care and support for an individual with limited verbal communication. Assist with personal care routines, meal preparation, and household tasks. Support daily outings and activities according to the individual's set timetable. Promote a positive, engaging, and safe environment. Understand and adhere to food allergy protocols. Cook simple meals and prepare sandwiches as needed. Deliver care with patience, positivity, and a sense of fun.

Candidate Requirements:

Female applicants only

(due to service user's preference).

Buccal midazolam trained

(essential). Previous experience supporting individuals with autism or complex needs. Confident, patient, jovial, and able to build rapport easily. Able to work flexibly, including sleep-in shifts and occasional lone working. Good communication skills and the ability to offer reassurance when needed. Ability to travel to and from Skipton.

Desirable:

Knowledge of autism best practices. Training in safeguarding, manual handling, and first aid.

Additional Information:

You will be supporting "Will," an individual who thrives when surrounded by positive, patient, and fun-loving staff. Staff must be proactive and willing to accompany Will in daily activities outside the home.

Contract length: 2 months

Pay: 12.30-13.30 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
