Positive Steps Care & Support Ltd is looking for a dedicated, compassionate live-in carer to support a lady with Huntington's Disease in her own home. This rewarding role will allow you to make a significant difference in her daily life, providing the care and assistance she needs to maintain independence.
About the Role:
This is a live-in position with working hours of
7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a rest period until 5:00 PM. Work resumes from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM
.
You will be responsible for supporting the lady with daily tasks, personal care, and health monitoring, ensuring she lives as comfortably and independently as possible. Your key responsibilities will include:
Personal Care
: Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene while maintaining comfort and dignity.
Medication Management
: Administering medications as prescribed and maintaining a consistent routine.
Meal Preparation & Feeding
: Preparing healthy meals and assisting with feeding to meet dietary requirements.
Mobility Support
: Helping with movement and transfers, utilizing mobility aids to ensure safety and comfort.
Health Monitoring
: Observing any changes in health or behaviour and reporting concerns to family or healthcare providers.
Companionship & Emotional Support
: Offering emotional support, companionship, and engaging in activities to reduce isolation.
Exercise Assistance
: Encouraging and assisting with any prescribed physiotherapy or mobility exercises to promote physical health.
Requirements:
We are looking for individuals who are:
Experienced
: At least 6 months of experience in health and social care, ideally with experience supporting people with neurological conditions such as Huntington's Disease. We welcome transferable skills and experience.
Patient & Compassionate
: You should have a caring nature, able to support someone with patience and understanding through the challenges of Huntington's Disease.
Reliable & Observant
: Ability to monitor changes in health, mood, and behaviour, and communicate effectively.
Driver (Preferred)
: A full, clean driving license is preferred, though not essential, for supporting transport to appointments or outings.
