This is your opportunity to join the UK\'s leading Vertical Farming company as a Farm Trials Coordinator! The client is constantly working to improve how plants are grown identifying new varieties to meet customer needs. This includes looking at all elements of the vertical farming process from plant genetics through to product handling packing and delivery. The result is a product that not only tastes good but also meets customer requirements and has the lowest environmental impact possible advancing the UK\'s commitments to net-zero by 2050.

You will work in state-of-the-art facilities to identify opportunities for plant science to contribute to the advancement of sustainable agriculture. As the Field Trials Coordinator you will have guidance from the Head of Crop Optimisation working on all aspects of plant science R&D. This will be a fast-paced and varied role with numerous opportunities for skill development and personal growth in an emerging sector. The position is a full-time on-site and permanent role based in Kent with an additional 4 days a month being based in Cambridge.

What you\'ll be doing:
This role will be a great fit for you if you want to:
\'\xc2\xa2 Organise and lead on the implementation of proof of concept variety agronomic and post-harvest trials.
\'\xc2\xa2 Spend time organising resources performing data collection recording accurate trial records and reporting findings.
\'\xc2\xa2 Communicate with the team to organise trials and ensure their timely delivery.
\'\xc2\xa2 Manage and coordinate data collection to improve product specifications in a plant science capacity.
\'\xc2\xa2 Use scientific and technical equipment to track plant and product performance throughout a crop\'s life cycle.
\'\xc2\xa2 Learn how to upkeep calibrate and maintain scientific equipment.
\'\xc2\xa2 Collect samples from various system input and outputs for both internal and external analyses being comfortable presenting this data to the senior management team.

Please note this role will involve working to food and lab safety requirements so an awareness of H&S protocols is essential. There will also be the requirement to work at height and in confined spaces.

What experience you\'ll need to apply:
This role will be a great fit for you if you have:
  • PhD or MSc in a relevant subject such as Horticulture Agriculture or Food Science.
  • Experience in organising and implementing horticultural trials whether in an academic or commercial setting.
  • An understanding of how commercial plant and food production environments work.
  • Experience in planning implementing and collecting data from trials.
  • A passion for growing plants and want to contribute to the future of crop production.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
You will be very enthusiastic and have exceptional attention to detail. You will be able to work in a flexible environment and switch between tasks quickly. You will be able to manage challenges in a calm and efficient manner.

This role is a full-time and permanent position based in Kent. However there will be the requirement to spend 4 days a month at the Cambridge site. This will be on a rota basis and may include weekends or parts there-of. Flexibility to work when required is essential.
