Job Description


The Post: We are looking to appoint a Farm Maintenance Technician on a Full Time Contract to work with our Rare Breeds Centre team.

  • Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
  • Rate: \xc2\xa320,631 per annum
As a Farm Maintenance Technician, you\'ll provide a maintenance service to the farm and visitor attraction, including building maintenance, installation and operation of equipment. This is a multi-skilled post; you will contribute to maintaining and improving the Rare Breeds Centre. You will be required to undertake general multi skilled building and maintenance tasks including:
  • carpentry
  • painting and decorating
  • fencing
  • groundworks
  • gardening and drainage works including clearing blockages
  • assisting with animal care duties when required (training will be given)
In this role you will assist in moving/handling furniture, fittings, waste, equipment and materials. About Us: The RBC is a busy tourist attraction with more than 130,000 visitors a year. As part of Canterbury Oast Trust, a leading local charity, it supports the work of the Trust in its provision of first-class care and support for adults with a learning disability across Kent and East Sussex. The RBC also provides valuable training opportunities for adults with learning disabilities enabling them to develop their animal management, horticultural, retail and customer service skills. As a Farm Maintenance Technician you will need:
  • At least 3 years\' experience of general building repairs and maintenance
  • The ability to carry out basic machinery and hand tool maintenance
  • To be able to perform all the tasks detailed within the job description and meet the requirements outlined within the additional information section of the job description
  • A friendly and approachable personality with excellent customer service skills
  • 21 or over and hold a full driving licence for at least 12 months (insurance requirement)
Farm Maintenance Technician Benefits will include:
