Job Description

Ibk is a community based, not-for-profit social enterprise with over 20 years' experience of providing Direct Payment Support to families, children and adults of all ages with a range of needs. We provide a bespoke matching service, finding the right PA for the right person!

We are currently working with a family seeking to recruit a support worker to join their small team in supporting a little girl with autism. This young person is 5 years old and has a variety of interests including space, Hey Duggee, swimming and trampolining. She communicates predominantly non verbally and needs an extremely observant and proactive support worker who can keep her safe whilst she takes part in activities she enjoys.

Friday evenings will usually be spent in the family home, playing games together, perhaps making a start on dinner and getting into the bedtime routine. Saturdays will be focused on going swimming and for a cake afterwards.

This little girl can be quite unpredictable and doesn't always understand how to keep safe, so an experienced support worker would be an advantage and an upbeat happy nature is a must!

Hours:

Fridays: 6pm-8.30pm

Saturdays: 3 hours in the morning

Hours and times have some flexibility for the right person. The ability to cover holidays and sickness on other evenings would be an advantage.

Person Specification:

Essential

Willing to learn from the young person and her circle of support Be friendly, reliable, and honest; and maintain confidentiality. Be respectful in the family-home. Have a good sense of humour
Experience of autism

Be organised and proactive

Be physically able to carry out the role as described

Be patient and resilient

Happy to swim as part of your role

Desirable

You may have interests, hobbies and skills you could share with the young person
Experience of working with someone who uses non verbal communication

Car driver with use of a vehicle
