Job Description

Due to continued demand for our services, an opportunity to join the legal support team in one of the leading law firms in Cornwall and Devon has arisen. Working as a Legal Assistant or Secretary (subject to skills and experience) in our Family Department you will play a key role in assisting the specialist lawyers and supporting our clients.


Our Family Law department is one of the largest in the county and offers a full range of family law services. A role in the family department means working on matters that are at the very core of our clients' lives. From divorce and associated arrangements for finances and children to domestic violence and injunctions. You will work as part of the core support team for Family law focused on providing administrative support to the lawyers in the team.


What you will do:




Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Family lawyers Communicate with and assist clients and 3rd party professionals Prepare standard documents and letters Progressing matters procedurally

Family law is a rewarding area of work. Our lawyers are often working to tight deadlines and with clients in immediate need so above all of the skills and experience outlined below must be a passion to make a difference to the lives of our clients.


Experience and Skills :


Experience as a Secretary / Assistant in a professional setting Competent IT user with the wiliness to learn new systems (full training is provided) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organisational skills Capable of effectively dealing with multiple tasks and deadlines High level of attention to detail and accuracy Must be able to work independently and as part of a team Empathetic and understanding attitude toward clients' needs and concerns

Location



We are open to discussion regarding which of our eight locations best suits you. In addition to our offices, the firm aims to enable as many staff as possible to incorporate an element of remote work into their working week if they so wish.


Hours



This is a full time position. 35 hours a week Monday to Friday. Job share can be considered and we would welcome applications from candidates looking for alternative working arrangements.
