Job Description

SWORD Engineering Ltd is a small, family run business based in Wem, Shropshire. We are seeking a mechanically minded, highly skilled Fabricator/Welder /Fitter with at least 5 years proven experience to join our friendly, committed team in the fabricating and manufacturing of recycling and bulk handling equipment.



As part of the Fabrication and Install team, you will be a key player both in the workshop and on-site. You will work closely with the workshop management team to assist with project design, build and fabrication while also playing a pivotal role in the preparation and installation of our manufactured equipment.

Duties will include but not limited to:



Bespoke Fabrication from drawings - e.g. conveyor systems, access platforms, walkways, trommels, safety rails, stairs etc Welding (MMA/MIG/Stick) Cutting, Drilling, Grinding Assisting with Fitting and Installation of recycling equipment General mechanical duties to assist other engineering staff Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality standards Troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise during the welding or fitting processes Maintaining a safe and tidy workplace and reporting any faults/hazards, in accordance with Company Health and Safety requirements Varied workload weekly within a small and friendly team

You will be both workshop and site based nationally and therefore must be prepared to work away from home and weekends, sometimes at short notice.*

Experience & Skills Required



Competent MIG & MMA Fabrication & Welding Skills with at least 5 years proven experience and a solid understanding of mechanical principles. Level 3 NVQ or equivalent minimum qualification in Fabrication and Welding Must be able to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings Candidates must have a keen eye for detail and able to measure and cut materials accurately Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work Fitting and installation experience with good mechanical skills High level of professionalism and good communication skills Highly collaborative, organised, with a strong ability to multi-task Able to work on their own initiative or within a small committed team at both our own premises and customer's sites Fork lift, scissor lift and boom licenses IPAF highly desirable

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday 8:30AM to 4:30PM

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 17.00-20.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
