Job summary
Girlguiding are recruiting for an External affairs coordinator to join the External affairs team. Reporting to the Girl voice lead, we are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring that girls\xe2\x80\x99 and young women\xe2\x80\x99s voices are heard by decision-makers. This is a key role within the team, contributing to the delivery of a variety of external affairs outputs, including the advocate youth panel. In this role, you will scope and deliver opportunities with cross-sector partners to progress our advocacy priorities, and position Girlguiding as an expert in girls\xe2\x80\x99 and young women\xe2\x80\x99s lives in the UK. You will monitor political updates relevant to our work and support with political stakeholder engagement. You will also work closely with our advocate youth panel to deliver panel activities and secure opportunities for them to have their voices heard. We are looking for an individual with experience of campaigning and advocacy, in either a professional or volunteer capacity, especially with children and young people. Applicants should have strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders. We would also like to hear from people with the ability to research and present information to others. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you! About Girlguiding This is a really exciting time to join Girlguiding. We have much to be proud of in our one hundred years of history, but we know that to remain vibrant and relevant to young people we must continually evolve. We\xe2\x80\x99ve begun a process of significant change: transforming the organisation so it can meet the challenges of the future by putting young people at the heart of our organisation. We\xe2\x80\x99re on a mission to amplify the voices of girls and young women, so they can champion change in their own lives and the wider world; to build strong partnerships that can increase our reach and impact; and to increase the support we offer our amazing adult volunteers who deliver incredible experiences to young people across the UK every week. Girlguiding values the differences that a diverse workforce brings and is committed to inclusivity, and to employing and supporting a diverse workforce. Girlguiding is proud to be part of the Stonewall Diversity Champions programme, a member of the Business Disability Forum, and a member of Time to Change. While Girlguiding\xe2\x80\x99s young members may be women only, our staff team is mixed gender. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Girlguiding operates a hybrid working arrangement where office based staff are required to attend the office on average two days a week, or 40% of working time across the year. We\xe2\x80\x99re committed though to supporting our staff to achieve a good work-life balance and offer flexible working options wherever we reasonably can. All staff are required to carry out our online health and safety training and complete a DSE risk assessment to ensure we can provide the support you require.
