Recovery driver required to join family business of 80+ years

Salary circa 35,000 and a pension

J Madden (Garages) Ltd operates from premises in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire. We are looking to recruit further reliable members of staff for our recovery department. Being a recovery driver you will find that every day is varied, you will be in different places meeting different people in many situations. If you are also mechanically minded, with a desire to offer customers the best possible service, you could be the right person for us at J Madden (Garages) Ltd.

Your job as a recovery operative would be working 12 hour shifts, attending a large variety of vehicles broken down/disabled at the roadside following mechanical failure, multi punctured tyres or RTAs.

Daily duties involve driving from job to job within a time frame, inspecting, loading casualty vehicles then recovering them to desired locations. Sometimes this will include passengers so the ideal applicant will be punctual, polite, professional and of tidy appearance at all times. Occasionally customers will have been in very stressful situations and you will need to be able to communicate with them calmly and sympathetically.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide a prompt, professional and efficient vehicle recovery and delivery service that delivers customer satisfaction in line with Company targets and standards; respond to and deal with customer enquiries through provision of accurate and reliable information/advice; carry out minor roadside repairs when possible (training will be given); complete all paperwork and processes accurately and timely in line with Company requirements; assist in making sure vehicles are clean and suitable for use; carefully observe Company procedures regarding fault reporting; remain mobile and in constant communication with the office/Driver Controller; act in a manner which is efficient, orderly and timely ensuring tasks are achieved within the set time-scales; be familiar with, and comply with, Company policies, procedures and training - whether it's health & safety, environmental standards, quality ways of working or our information assurance practices which protect our network and information; and promote our company values and standards and exhibit appropriate behaviour in accordance with Company ethos.

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will:-

be a team player; be able to use their own initiative to resolve challenging situations; have good communication skills, you will be dealing with customers face to face and over the phone; happy to work flexible hours on a shift system which will at times include weekends and bank holidays; hold a full UK driving licence; have a Class 2 license ; hold a Drivers Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC); have great driving skills and remain calm when the traffic is bad and the pressure is on; have a good command in the English language, both written and spoken; Already have experience as a recovery driver. Be punctual for each shift
