The role will be key to support successful delivery of future projects, which involves a variety of activity, primarily focused on the protection and repair of the Grade I Listed historic building and associated assets.###

What we are looking for: Estates Manager (Projects)





The Estates department at Somerset House carries out a variety of Capital Improvement Projects across the Estate. These range from refurbishment to large-scale construction projects typically between 25k - 2.5m with occasional involvement in larger schemes. The type of projects varies, from infrastructure projects to public facing developments through to works to artist or tenanted areas.

In this role you will provide logistical, operational and technical support to the Head of Buildings to enable projects to run smoothly and compliantly across the entire estate. Providing Health & Safety support across all projects, liaising with any external Project Managers/Architects with any on site information required.###

Skills, knowledge & expertise required for the role:



Essential


A qualification in a Construction Management related discipline

A least 5 years' experience of working within a similar role.

Working within a Grade 1/Grade 2 listed building understanding the constraints to delivering projects within the environment

Project Management of projects up to a value of 200,000.

Experience of working within an Estates/FM team

Knowledge of all relevant building legislation and regulations and building contracts

Knowledge of traditional construction with recognised basic trades and skills.

Experience of quality control, site testing methods.

Experience on working within Events and Exhibition Builds

A demonstrable knowledge of all relevant Health and Safety in particular CDM Health and Safety requirements.

Experience of handling a number of projects simultaneously.

Knowledge of using Microsoft Excel/Word and AutoCAD Applications

Desirable



Experience of working within a Cultural organisation

Knowledge of various types of standard minor and major building contracts.

Experience and an understanding of Mechanical and Electrical works would be an advantage.

Knowledge of using Autodesk Revit/ Microsoft Project applications


Skills



Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders

Flexibility and adaptability to change

Strong numeracy and IT skills, including working knowledge of MS Office applications and spreadsheets, and ability to learn new systems and software quickly
