School of Ocean & Earth Science - Technical

The School of Ocean and Earth Science seeks to provide a better understanding of our dynamic planetary system and address key societal challenges in the ocean and Earth sciences. We are looking to appoint an Equipment Support Technician (Electronics) to support those aims by maintaining a wide range of oceanographic instrumentation, fieldwork equipment and laboratory equipment.

You will be expected to carry out the operation, development, construction, modification, repair and maintenance of equipment in support of our research/teaching vessels and across the School.

You will be resourceful in the delivery of support, skilled at communicating with customers, and will have developed sound problem-solving skills, and a detailed understanding of generic oceanographic equipment would also be desirable.

It would beneficial to have gained experience of working at sea in a workboat/commercial environment and of managing an equipment store.

This is a full time permanent position within Ocean and Earth Science, at Southampton University\xe2\x80\x99s Waterfront Campus based at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton site. The post is Level 3 in the Technical and Experimental Job Family, and the salary will be in the range of \xc2\xa328,929-\xc2\xa333,348
