An exciting and rare opportunity has now arisen for someone who is passionate about the environment and sustainability to join our Global Indirect Tax team as an Environmental Taxes Senior Manager. Role responsibilities:

In this role, you will be:

  • Leading the development, implementation and delivery of AstraZeneca\xe2\x80\x99s global environmental tax compliance and risk management strategy to deliver sustainable value.
  • Supporting AstraZeneca in meeting its global environmental tax compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions. Continuously assessing and challenging that appropriate systems, controls and processes are in place E2E to meet legislative requirements and manage global environmental tax risk.
  • Partnering with the wider business to enhance and develop successful long-term relationships, through the provision of timely, appropriate, and commercial environmental tax advice which supports the delivery of business objectives.
  • Continuous review of AstraZeneca\xe2\x80\x99s structure and business model to identify and drive opportunities, efficiencies and ideas for improvement and standardisation, alongside building awareness of environmental taxes around the organisation.
  • Supporting the business with managing environmental tax audits and controversy matters across the business, alongside maintaining good relationships with tax authorities, external advisors and other third parties.
  • Initiate and lead on ad hoc environmental tax projects.
  • Contributing to the development of AstraZeneca\xe2\x80\x99s wider global tax function, including the coaching and development of more junior members of the global tax team and providing training across the business.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Strong environmental tax compliance and/or advisory experience (HMRC, Professional Practice or another large multi-national organisation)
  • Ability to analyse complex issues from a range of perspectives, form considered judgements around the actions to be taken, and lead on those actions.
  • Strong project management skills to both lead individual assignments and co-ordinate and monitor broader programmes involving multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and collaboration skills.
  • Ability and flexibility to work well under tight deadlines
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time appropriately in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple teams both within the UK and overseas
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to foster good working relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
