Environmental Protection Officer Job descriptionWorksite: Howden HouseWe are seeking to recruit an Environmental Protection Officer to help deliver our environmental regulation agenda.Work areas include statutory nuisance investigations, planning/licensing consultations, contaminated land (land quality) and environmental permitting.We are inviting applications from dedicated and highly motivated environmental health practitioners, who can work on their own initiative, whilst managing and prioritising their workload. We need an officer with a passion for protecting the environment, with the skills to audit and regulate a range of businesses. Candidates must have a positive customer care attitude.Training and continuing professional development is available.You should possess excellent communication skills and have experience in managing a busy caseload with a strong track record of good performance. The ability to offer accurate technical advice and make that relevant for a wide client group is paramount.Experience in the investigation of complaints and assessing complex planning applications/technical reports is essential. It is important that prospective candidates have a good working knowledge of the regulations & related guidance in all aspects of pollution control that relate to local authority responsibilities.Applicants will require a BTEC, HNC/HND in an appropriate science or technology (Or equivalent). At least two years experience working in an environmental protection enforcement role would be an advantage.Possession of the IOA Diploma in Acoustics & Noise Control, the IOA Certificate of Noise Competence in Environmental Noise Measurement, the PPC Certificate of Competence and/or relevant training in contaminated land investigation would also be an advantage.We can offer a wide range of experience and challenges to the successful applicant as a core city with a huge range of industry.
