Advert Environmental Health Compliance Officer - Full Time Temporary We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy Communities and public Protection Service. As an Environmental Health Compliance Officer, you will be expected to undertake duties across all areas of Environmental Health, contributing to the effective delivery of the service. You will be involved in the delivery of high-quality responsive customer focussed services to both the public/businesses within a challenging and varied environment and as such it is expected that you will have a sound knowledge of Environmental Health. You will be expected to assist with food law, health and Safety and public health/nuisance investigations. It is essential that you have a BSc Honours Degree in Environmental Health/MSc in Environmental Health, or equivalent. Knowledge of how to apply relevant legislation to complex situations to ensure compliance is further essential. In addition, you must have the ability to work to specific deadlines You will further have effective communication skills and be able to engage with a range of stakeholders including businesses, residents, council departments and external agencies. You will also have the ability to interpret statutory instruments and guidance and carry out enforcement processes in situations where non-compliance is identified. As well as being able to self-manage and work effectively to procedures, you should also have strong team working skills and proven partnership working skills. You must have a flexible approach to work, be able to carry out the role with credibility and professionalism and have the ability to adapt quickly to any changes in legislation/guidance/working practices. Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 34 months or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier. A driving licence is desirable. If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
