We are seeking an Enterprise Architect to join our Guidewire Professional Services team. In this role, you will combine your insurance expertise with your software implementation skills to lead strategic transformative projects for our customers.
Enterprise Architect, Professional Services
Location: Remote EU. You have flexibility to choose where you are located and work on complex enterprise software implementation/integration projects on customer site.
Location choices include: Germany, Italy, Spain, UK, Ireland, Poland.Our Professional Services organisation comprises business architects, functional consultants, and technical integration consultants. Together, we assist customers and SI vendors in implementing Guidewire applications at customer sites. Our projects are complex, lasting from three months to two years, depending on the customer's specific needs. During a project, the team identifies customer business requirements, proposes solutions using out-of-the-box capabilities and configurations, and integrates the Guidewire application with other internal or external systems.
Guidewire applications are highly configurable to meet each customer's unique requirements, necessitating a deep understanding of their objectives. We embrace Agile development practices to build mission-critical software, ensuring a sustainable work/life balance and a calm, systematic approach to our business.
Although this role is primarily for the EMEA region, opportunities to work in other regions may arise.
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess a combination of experience and skills in the following areas:
Experience:
A minimum of 15 years of experience in implementing enterprise software solutions within complex project environments. This should include at least 7 years of specific experience with Guidewire InsuranceSuite.
Solution Design and Delivery:
Demonstrated ability to design, estimate, and deliver solutions for complex product gaps and enhancements.
Technical Leadership:
A proven track record of leading functional/technical workstreams on medium- to complex-sized implementation projects.
Communication and Influence:
Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with customers, partners, and team members at the project leadership level, including the ability to influence customer and partner decisions.
Proof of Concept:
Experience in defining and leading small to medium-sized proof of concept (POC) initiatives.
Agile and Object-Oriented Design Expertise:
Significant experience using agile methodologies, along with a solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and databases.
Consulting and Industry Knowledge:
Strong consulting and leadership skills, complemented by industry knowledge of the P&C insurance industry, with a focus on policy and/or underwriting.
Project Management:
Capability to handle project management tasks, including scope control, estimating, budgeting, and resource management.
Willingness to Travel:
Interest and ability to travel as needed up to 50% time on an average.
Technical Curiosity:
A genuine passion for technology and solving challenging technical problems.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong object-oriented design, development, and testing skills, with proven knowledge of patterns. Exceptional documentation skills and the ability to clearly communicate your thought process.
Programming Skills:
Proficiency in JAVA, J2EE, JMS, JDBC OR C#, .NET. Please note that we may conduct a technical test as part of our selection process.
Hands-On Configuration:
Hands-on scripting/programming/configuration capability in a multi-tier web application environment, including conducting peer code reviews.
Industry Experience:
Experience working in the London Market and Commercial Lines of business is a plus.

Guiding customers and partners in adapting to Guidewire tools and best practices.
Providing product and technical advice, drawing from Guidewire product portfolio experience and domain expertise.
Managing time effectively to support multiple customers.
Leading medium and large proof of concept (POC) initiatives.
Developing strategies considering the strengths and weaknesses of the customer and partner.
Leading and mentoring on all technical facets of a project.
Working with sales to help prospects clarify their needs.
Enhancing technical consistency across projects.
Establishing a vision for how Guidewire and its partners can maximize the customer's business objectives.
Demonstrating value by ensuring customers and partners understand Guidewire's products and driving decisions that maximize product alignment.
Collaborating with customers and partners to identify opportunities that support long-term objectives.
Communicating effectively and leading discussions with C-level leadership.
Presenting complex technical topics to technical and non-technical audiences.
Proactively addressing critical problems and risks.
Providing independent implementation assessments on multiple projects.
Contributing to the creation of collateral related to solutions for known problems.
Evaluating the effectiveness of tools used by implementation teams.
Helping to drive the evolution and adoption of methodology across the enterprise.
Possessing a broad understanding of all Guidewire products and services.
Defining the optimal use of Guidewire's product tools and explaining the rationale.
Representing Guidewire as a product/industry expert in events and forums.
