Enquiries Officer

We have an exciting opportunity to join the NSPCC\'s busy Knowledge and Information Service, the UK\'s leading source of information on child protection and safeguarding.

Our Enquiries Officer assists in the smooth running of our highly regarded library and enquiry services, helping NSPCC staff and those working or volunteering with children to find and access information. You will look after visitors to our library in London; assist with issuing, renewing and returning library loans; photocopy journal articles and scan NSPCC reports; and help answer enquiries about our services. In addition, you will help with regular reporting on service performance and activities and gathering user feedback. Our Enquiries Officer also provides general administrative support, including assisting the Records and Archive team.

We\'re looking for someone with:

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to confidently communicate by email, phone, video call and in person
  • Strong IT knowledge including experience of using Excel, Word, Outlook and ideally using a library management system or a similar database
  • Great attention to detail
  • A proactive and flexible approach
  • A proven ability to work independently, as well as part of a small team.
This is a temporary fixed term role for 6 months covering maternity leave. You will be based in the NSPCC Library in London (Shoreditch) for a minimum of 3 days per week with the remainder of the week working from home.

The NSPCC\'s Knowledge and Information Service provides:
  • a unique library collection and catalogue
  • a specialist enquiry service, answering complex enquiries and providing literature searches on child protection subjects
  • newsletters to help people working with children and young people stay up-to-date with the latest developments in safeguarding
  • records management services and an organisational archive
  • a website,
