We are seeking a skilled, independent thinking, and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our small hard working team. The ideal candidate will be happy and confident working alone, as this is very much a stand alone role (you would be our one and only engineer, reporting directly to the MD/ owner.
As our Engineering Lead, you will be the technical backbone of our workshop operations--designing for manufacture, programming CNC machines, improving efficiencies, and supporting the team on the shop floor. This is a varied, hands-on role that offers real autonomy and the opportunity to make a significant impact on the business.
Key Responsibilities
Design for manufacture of loudspeaker cabinets using CAD software.
Program CNC Routing machines.
Produce accurate and timely quotes for customers based on design specifications and production costs.
Oversee the maintenance and servicing of machinery, including managing outsourced maintenance services.
Design and implement jigs and fixtures to improve manufacturing efficiency and consistency.
Provide day-to-day guidance and support to workshop operatives on manufacturing procedures.
Lead new product introductions from prototyping to production.
Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety legislation and promote a culture of safety across the team.
Requirements
Relevant engineering qualifications.
Proven experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role.
Proficiency in producing CAD drawings for manufacture.
Experience with CAM software and creating CNC programs.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide and inspire a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on mindset.
Desirable (but not essential)
Experience programming CNC Routers or Milling machines.
Background in woodworking or wood-based manufacturing.
Hands-on experience with machine maintenance.
Terms & Conditions/ Benefits
Working hours are 8am until 4.30pm Monday to Friday (although for the right candidate we would consider a 4 day week).
Starting salary is 50,000, with the potential to rise to 55,000 within 12 months.
