Job Description


We are looking for an Engagement Producer to join us to play a key role in the exciting growth of the South East\xe2\x80\x99s biggest news brands, helping us to build relationships with new and existing readers across EssexLive and the wider South East.

From creating engaging written and video content tailored to a digital audience to showcasing the great work our reporters do, your job will be to deliver content to a wider readership and interact with our readers, showcasing and creating discussion around the news that matters to them.

This is an ideal role for a creative self-starter who understands social media and wants to bring something new to some of the biggest newsbrands. We are looking for candidates with excellent storytelling techniques, superb digital skills and a deep understanding of how to make content engaging.

This position is a maternity cover and will be on a 8 month fixed term contract.

We are happy to consider applications on a flexible working basis, and will always aim to accommodate requests where possible.

This role is home based however due to the nature of the role, you will need to be based in or around Essex.

What will the role involve?

You will oversee the successful implementation of our social media strategies and manage our social accounts and create engaging content to build relationships with readers with a strong focus on Facebook Live, video and pictures. You will cover live events and breaking news across social platforms, fine and flag stories that you know will perform well across our regional titles\xe2\x80\x99 social pages.

You will monitor our rivals to identify trends and communicate your findings. You will be a social expert and will share knowledge across our South East newsrooms. You will engage readers in our online commenting system, curate newsletters and drive engagement in creative ways.

Qualifications:

Who are we looking for?

A journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge, with a strong understanding of social media platforms and how to engage an audience. You have content writing experience with a news reporting background.

You\xe2\x80\x99re social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and possess excellent digital publishing skills with a passion for local journalism. You\xe2\x80\x99re flexible, inquisitive and are on the pulse of what makes a great story!
