Partnership working across many enforcement functions with the Police, Environment Agency, community groups, social landlords, as well as other internal and external departments enables the enforcement team to produce real improvements in the quality of life for Wiltshire residents.
This is a full time secondment for 2 years.
About the role
The Environmental Enforcement Team enforces and investigates environmental crime across Wiltshire. Not only does it provide a strong and effective deterrent to environmental offences, but the team also reassures the public that Wiltshire Council is on the side of the majority and will act against the few who would deface our environment and place extra burden on the taxpayer.
You will be the Countywide Lead Enforcement Officer with regard to the management and control of fly-posting linked to the three keys areas of prevention, removal and prosecution.
About You
You will have wide-ranging experience in investigative techniques in accordance with the Police & Criminal Evidence Act (1984), as well as a sound knowledge of case file production and presentation of evidence in Court. In addition, you will be experienced in conducting interviews under caution in line with relevant legislation and regulations.
You are to hold a Diploma, or equivalent, in highways management, rights of way, criminal law, environmental enforcement, or other acceptable discipline and/or relevant experience.
As well as having a strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, you will have excellent communication skills required to calm situations and convey often complex legislation and regulation to businesses and the public in potentially confrontational situations.
Your substantive manager must agree to you transferring to the secondment role. This agreement must be sought in principle before applying for the seconded role. If the secondment will impact significantly on service delivery, your substantive manager may not agree to the secondment.
