To provide timely and relevant HR advice, guidance and support to operational and functional management on all employee relations matters including grievances, poor performance, absence management, conduct and disciplinaries within agreed procedures, standards and timescales, complying with all statutory requirements and contributing to the achievement of people KPI's.
To take the lead on coordinating services within Operations for occupational health, health and well being and engagement.
This is a 6 month FTC to cover an internal secondment. The salary for the role is up to 45k FTE (pro rata)
The main office location for this role will be our Finsbury Park office. This is a Hybrid Role with circa 2-3 days per week in the office.
Main internal contacts:
Operational/Functional Management teams, wider HR team but in particular HR Business Partners, in house legal team and trade union representatives.
Main responsibilities:
Provide advice, guidance and support to operational and functional management on the application of Arriva HR policies and procedures and current relevant legislation.
Provide professional HR support and accurate and appropriate advice, including advice on absence, disciplinary and grievance cases, to operational and functional management to minimise risk of litigitation and ensure Arriva standards and values are adhered to.
Support with producing letters and the outcomes of the relevant processes.
Assist in the updating / development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to meet business needs and be legally compliant.
Coach, support and advice to operational and functional managers to contribute to effective working relationships with recognised Trade Unions to optimise people related matters and the engagement of employees.
Assist in the collation and maintenance of HR data and documentation including reporting on trends and opportunities to improve policies, processes and systems.
Assist in the delivery of manager training and production of how to guides for operational and functional managers
Support in the implementation of organisational change and other people related initiatives
Engage with operational and functional management and other stakeholders in relation to proposals and changes made as part of a consultation process
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders by providing credible, timely and quality HR advice
Promote the culture where line managers are aware of and own issues within the business.
Maintain up to date employment law knowledge in line with legislation
Person specification
An experienced ER partner with solid employee relations experience and experience of managing complex ER cases
A solid understanding of employment legislation, its application and best practice
Ability work in partnership, building effective working relationships, to coach and influence stakeholder to drive appropriate outcomes
Demonstrate sound business/commercial approach with an understanding of business needs
Willingness to share knowledge and best practice across the HR team
Experience of working in a heavily unionised environment
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks whilst ensuring deadlines are met
Good IT skills with knowledge of Microsoft office packages and HR databases
