Job Title: EHS Manager

Reports to: Plant General Manager AF Ledbury

The EHS Manager will act as the site\'s lead competent person for Health and Safety as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for ensuring site health, safety, hygiene and environmental systems comply with both Amcor Flexibles standards and accreditation requirements.

Job Dimensions & Scope

The EHS Manager will ensure compliance to EHS legislation, define and maintain EHS policies and procedures, as well as accountability for administering the \xe2\x80\x9cSHE\xe2\x80\x9d system and taking responsibility as the key, competent person and point of contact on specific SHE issues for the Ledbury site.

Direct Reports:

EHS Team, Hygiene Personnel and Waste Department.

Internal Relationships:

All Ledbury co-workers, including the Site General Manager, Senior Management Team, and other Ledbury employees. Other internal relationships will include Amcor site managers, safety representatives, the Business Unit EHS manager and Amcor corporate.

External Relationships:

Local authorities, suppliers and customers as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To act as the organisation\'s lead competent person for Health and Safety as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
  • Set the strategic framework for the management of Health, Safety & Environmental standards which includes Amcor Occupational Health & Safety Standard, engaging stakeholders across all regions to ensure that these standards are understood and embedded.
  • Provide guidance and advice to the Plant General Manager and the senior management team to ensure that the organisation complies with statutory obligations and best practice.
  • Drive initiatives to achieve the zero injuries target.
  • Data collection of analysis and reports for site SMT and as required.
  • Make Business Unit recommendations, propose options and develop implementation plans to ensure that the organisation maintains compliance in all areas of EHS.
  • Responsibility for management of first aid service on site.
  • Provide coaching, specialist advice and practical support on all EHS matters to the site and AFEMEA.
  • Keep up to date with new EHS legislation and best practice developments that affect the organisation, ensuring that when necessary, policies, procedures and processes are appropriately updated.
  • Responsible for the periodic BU EHS performance reports.
  • Manage safety related training programmes, ensure the accurate recording of safety related training
  • Assist in the identification of EHS training needs for employees across the organisation. Develop and deliver this training as required.
  • Develop competence for FLM in carrying out investigations and assist others to investigate incidents / accidents.
  • Ensure the effective management of corrective actions, reporting internally and externally if required. Ensure the effective communication of lessons learned.
  • Actively contribute to safeguarding the people we support.
  • Monitor the effective implementation of appropriate EHS procedures and ensure they are updated in line with changes in legislation and Company directives.
  • Conduct safety audits both internal and external.
  • Manage Safety Council and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Preparation of Health and Safety documentation for new projects.
  • Administer the Business Continuity Plan.
  • Develop and maintain a regime of workplace assessments including office DSE assessments for all staff.
  • Lead and support various Environmental and Safety related projects for AFEMEA and the Amcor business unit.
  • Manage the EMS to 14001 standards
  • Liaise with the Local Authority and Government bodies on all matters of EHS
  • Participate in managing hygiene standards across site and in maintaining the Food Safety Management system to meet the requirements of BRC and AIB.
  • For the purposes of environmental standards, control waste contracts.
  • Work in conjunction with the EHS Manager at Amcor Flexibles Evesham where required, and assist in providing an EHS service to that site when necessary.
Experience and skills that we are looking for:
  • Knowledge of a manufacturing environment
  • Computer literate - Microsoft and email packages, along with database experience.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Certified EMS training essential
  • Certified H&S training (NEBOSH trained) essential
  • Certified ISO internal auditor essential
  • Certified H&S training (NEBOSH diploma) desirable
  • Certified ISO Lead auditor desirable
