We are seeking to appoint an Education Welfare Officer with experience of working in such a role or similar. The post holder must have a good understanding of the education system, particularly in relation to school attendance.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in this field to take a leading role in school strategy, working under the management of the Deputy Headteacher with responsibility for pastoral matters, to further develop current policy and approaches for attendance and punctuality.
You will work particularly closely with students exhibiting persistent lateness or absence from school, including those with emotional-based school avoidance (EBSA), utilising all the internal and external support available to support them back in school. You will also work closely with the Attendance Officer, SEND team and Heads of Year to monitor and respond to student attendance and punctuality.
You will maintain regular contact with the local authority attendance and education welfare teams, ensuring school systems comply with best practice as currently set out in the DfE guidance document Working Together to Improve School Attendance.
