An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Hardie Grant London imprint at Quadrille as Editorial Director to cover a period of parental leave, beginning February 2024.
Reporting to the Managing Director, Publishing, the Editorial Director will be responsible for an editorial team of six, whilst working collaboratively across the functions in the business, to ensure commercial success with a global reach.
The successful candidate will be a passionate publisher, with a natural talent for inspiring and leading an editorial team to deliver industry-leading books. We\'re looking for someone commercially astute, innovative and creative; planned, organised and forward-thinking; adaptable to change and able to manage the fluctuating demands that come with the role.
Following the acquisition in October 2023, Quadrille is part of Penguin Random House UK. This position will be based in our Southwark office, with hybrid working options.

Key Responsibilities
Commissioning and list development for current and future titles.
Project-managing and championing books from inception to publication, balancing creativity with a commercial mind, and with a critical eye for detail.
Providing second-to-none author and agent care.
Actively pursuing opportunities for developing backlist.
Leading the editorial team and setting the highest standards for editorial content and innovative design.
Maintaining financial control of projects, working efficiently within agreed budgets for revenue and costs, and always identifying ways to strengthen the commercial outcome of future commissions.
Working collaboratively with other functions, such as Marketing and Production, to ensure the finished book has the best possible opportunity for success.
Candidate Profile
Non-fiction publishing experience is essential, with Illustrated Lifestyle publishing of particular interest.
To succeed in this role, you might currently be a Managing Editor, Senior Commissioning Editor or Editorial Director.
Some proven line management experience is essential.
We\'re looking for someone who is confident managing existing projects; there will also be some opportunity for new acquisitions.
