The UK PR team are seeking an experienced Communications professional to join our fast paced global communications team. The Global Communications team is a pivotal function within the TikTok business, working collaboratively to deliver a positive brand narrative and build third party endorsement & advocacy. Our mission is to build trust through authentic and transparent communication.

This role will focus on our e-commerce offering, including TikTok Shop. The candidate will be pivotal in delivering proactive TikTok stories to the UK media and reacting quickly to news cycles.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about TikTok, the small businesses it empowers, how large brands can leverage the platform and the opportunities TikTok Shop provides to content creators. The candidate will be a skilled story-teller and will have the ability to quickly identify unique stories on TikTok, can demonstrate the real-world impact TikTok is having and will always champion the diverse & inclusive TikTok community.

The ideal candidate has experience working with consumer and industry trade media, is creative and innovative in their thinking, can proactively mine for stories within the business and in app, thrives in a collaborative working environment and is eager to take on a new challenge in an ever expanding, global business.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Reporting into the UK Comms lead, the candidate will support the UK Comms team with tent-pole consumer and B2B initiatives to drive tier one coverage across both national and trade media.
  • Mine for relevant media stories and case studies, identifying businesses, creators, viral products and key sales events to demonstrate the utility and real world economic impact of the TikTok Shop ecosystem.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams (with a particular emphasis on marketing) to leverage new product category launches, promotional events and product updates with our media audience.
  • Create PR toolkits, based on successes within the UK market that other colleagues can easily replicate and utilise globally.
  • Build the reputation of the TikTok community and TikTok Shop UK as a platform where creators and businesses of all sizes can have real-world success.
  • Develop a media strategy of consistent, proactive outreach which delivers media coverage profiling successful creators and small businesses on the platform optimising TikTok Shop.
  • Handle critical media enquiries and provide reactive responses, protecting TikTok Shop\'s reputation.
Qualifications:
Hard skills:
  • Minimum 8-10 years experience working in communications.
  • Experience in the tech, retail or e-commerce industries
  • Experience in managing and implementing PR campaigns and strategy, as well as handling difficult media cycles.
  • Strong contacts within the UK media ecosystem and understanding of the UK media landscape.
Soft Skills:
  • This candidate must have a passion for the platform, with an ability to spot TikTok trends, businesses and creators and act on them quickly to deliver media coverage, as well as profile merchants using TikTok Shop.
  • Must be organised and a self-starter who takes the initiative and proactively suggests media ideas and strategy, with sound judgement when considering reputational risk.
  • This candidate must be keen to collaborate both globally across the communications team, but also with key stakeholders within the business.
  • Must be agile and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
