Job Title: Early Years Inclusion Specialist -Speech, Language, Communication and Autism (SLCA)
Location: Stevenage
Starting Salary: \xc2\xa327,344 with the opportunity to progress to \xc2\xa330,151 per annum (pro rata circa \xc2\xa310,808 - \xc2\xa311,917 pa) - Pay increase pending
Hours: 19.5 per week, term time only
Contract: Permanent

Integrated Services for Learning is a multi-disciplinary service comprising of SEND Specialist Advice and Support services, Access & Inclusion Services, Educational Psychologists and Statutory services. A key function of ISL SEND Specialist Advice and Support (SEND SAS) is to ensure that the educational and developmental progress of children and young people (0-25), with a range of SEND, is met in line with the Hertfordshire Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Strategy and HCC strategic objectives.

We are looking for an Early Years Inclusion Specialist for speech language, communication and autism.

The Early Years Inclusion Specialist role provides support, advice and guidance to families, settings and schools for children with SEND within the Speech, Language, Communication and Autism Team. The role also offers individual support to children 0-7 with SEND, working in partnership with the Specialist Advisory Teacher and will require you to develop your knowledge and expertise within this specialism.

You will need:

  • NVQ level 3 or above in a child development related discipline
  • Experience of working with children who have a range of SEND in Early Years settings and with the families
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of technology e.g. laptop, iPad etc.
  • Ability to work independently in settings, liaising with the Specialist Advisory Teacher
  • Ability to work as part of a team and in collaboration with a range of partners including setting staff and other professionals
  • Sound judgement and analytical ability in order to understand the needs of the child with SEND and the context of the setting in order to provide appropriate support
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and key national initiatives
  • Ability to travel independently to visit service users - access to a vehicle and current driving licence required
