HMP Bullingdon is a male remand prison that has a capacity for 1,152 the offers 24 hours healthcare and there is an inpatient unit on-site.Hours This will include working days shifts, night shifts, weekend work, bank holidays and evening shifts. This will be working in all areas of the prison.SalaryThis position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to xc2xa352507 per annum FTE - depending on experience.How will we support you?Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training courseCompetency frameworkRegional and national career development opportunitiesOur bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needsSupport from the wider teamCandidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.Main duties of the jobAs a Early Days in Custody Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • As the Early Days in Custody Practitioner (Adult Nurse or Paramedic) your responsibilities will include ensuring patients have medical plans of care, assessing patients and carrying out relevant clinical investigations during their arrival, along with arranging follow-up appointments for them whilst offering advice and giving information.
  • You must be able to clinically evaluate and ensure the safe transfer of patients to acute hospitals if needed, as well as ensuring that plans of care are understood by the patient and the prison as appropriate. You will be able to demonstrate critical thinking skills in clinical decision making.
  • As part of your role you will support in undertaking audits and governance.
  • You will provide healthcare to patients on site in the healthcare unit in the prison. This will include some emergency care such as suturing, providing emergency response to undertaking dressings and performing a primary care function.

  • Registered nurse Adult
  • Current professional qualification (NMC or HCPC)
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
  • Understanding of audit and datix
