Job Description


We are looking for a highly enthusiastic professional to drive business development within the European territory at Cyprotex. This opportunity will require the ability to effectively communicate with customers on a personal and scientific level, determine their needs, respond appropriately and gather feedback upon study completion. It would be an ideal role for someone with sales experience in addition to a firm scientific base, preferably in ADME/DMPK and/or Toxicology, looking to expand his or her experience and knowledge in a more customer-oriented role.

Cyprotex is a world leading, specialised, ADME-Tox CRO with sites in the UK and the USA. It delivers high quality discovery and preclinical R&D services to the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, cosmetic and nutraceutical industry. Cyprotex is a fully owned subsidiary of Evotec AG.

We are seeking a motivated life scientist (degree or PhD qualified) who can apply their scientific training and background in the management of existing and new business opportunities in the ADME-Tox field. This will include existing customer management in collaboration with Cyprotex\xe2\x80\x99s Project Managers via phone calls and email, as well as pro-active new business generation, through research of customer contacts and direct contacting in support of sales staff and marketing initiatives. Additionally, it will involve the management of incoming RFI/RFP requests through the Cyprotex website, and will include new business development through site visits as required. Being a customer-facing role, this requires an ability to research and understand clients\xe2\x80\x99 needs well, and to address these appropriately in communications.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Development of opportunities by understanding customer\xe2\x80\x99s requirements, presenting and structuring a business and scientific framework to meet customer needs.
  • Rapidly develop an in-depth understanding of Cyprotex\xe2\x80\x99s products and services, and the impact that these have on customer projects at different stages of development.
  • Drive additional revenue opportunities from within existing company relationships through targeted follow-ups, ensuring customers extract maximum value from current interactions.
  • Answering web enquiries and proposal writing for new web enquiries.
  • New business development through prospecting of potential target customers.
  • Co-ordination of RFI/RFP processes through interactions with both sales and technical staff.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, identifying current and future needs and aligning these with the capabilities and strategy of the business.
  • Recognising and developing opportunities for cross-selling within the Evotec Group
  • Working with the Vice President of Business Development and Senior Operational Leadership teams to ensure that realistic and ambitious budgets are set and agreed.
  • Attendance at key conferences/workshops and Maintenance of Cyprotex\xe2\x80\x99s CRM (Salesforce)
  • Effectively managing all of the above responsibilities with the overall aim of meeting and exceeding defined budgets.
A technical background in biological research, ideally ADME-Tox, would be an advantage though not essential as relevant training will be provided. Experience of interacting with both technical and senior audiences, a good insight into customers industries, scientific modelling knowledge and language skills would all be additional assets. Customer management skills, either from a sales or a customer facing project management role are required.

This role will report to the Vice President Business Development, and will be home based. Travel within the territory, as well as out of hours work will be required depending on the needs of the business and the geographic diversity of clients.
