GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Vice President, Public Relations - Hospitality Consulting, the Director is a key interface between PTG Consulting PR Hospitality clients for UK public relations support. With oversight from the VP, the Director is responsible for traditional PR and integrated media relations campaigns for any PTG Consulting clients globally with their dedicated UK media relations support and is directly responsible for conceptualizing and executing the tactics within each program with a main focus on securing positive, continuous coverage among London (and UK) media outlets. The Director, Public Relations will also contribute to the ideation of new business proposals for potential hospitality clients, as required. The Director, Public Relations also assists the SVP, Public Relations and Corporate Communications with initiatives for other Preferred Travel Group and its brands, as needed.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP

Under the direct supervision of the VP, Public Relations - Hospitality Consulting, and with oversight from the SVP of Public Relations and Corporate Communications, the Director shall liaise with multiple internal departments, business owners, and respective clients to support their activities. There is regular interaction with journalists, editors, clients, external partners, and third-party vendors, and phone calls, action plan development, and follow through.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In collaboration with the VP, Public Relations, plan, budget, and execute integrated media relations programs for any PTG Consulting clients, as assigned
  • Execute and manage activities outlined within the PR contracts for assigned PTG Consulting hospitality clients, specifically properties with dedicated UK media relations support, as directed by the SVP and VP, managing all programs to their respective KPI\xe2\x80\x99s.
  • Fulfill traditional PR duties such as handling media requests for images and information; compiling activity re-cap reports for clients; securing consistent and quality media placements with active pitching via phone, email, and in-person interactions; planning, facilitating, and hosting media group and individual FAM trips; building and maintaining productive relationships with influential media; building, organizing, and maintaining internal lists of media and social influencers, as well as editorial calendars; producing press kits and media mailings; researching, drafting, and distributing PR materials addressing consumer, trade, and MICE media audiences across North America; and serving as the day-to-day contact for media, the company, and its clients (internal and external)
  • Direct account teams and oversee scope of work; assigning tasks to support team assigned to each client.
  • Provide account management and lead team as assigned.
  • Secure interviews, speaking engagements, and other thought leadership opportunities for key clients
  • Identify and formulate partnerships with external companies (i.e. media outlets, consumer brands, etc.) to enhance clients\xe2\x80\x99 brands and extend their PR reach, as appropriate
  • Plan and execute events and PR gatherings, as required by individual plans
  • Assist with the new business process by supporting the creation of PR proposal elements, as advised by the PTG leadership team
  • Stay updated on public relations trends and use the knowledge to positively impact and improve efforts executed on behalf of the company and its clients
  • Provide guidance to Preferred Hotels & Resorts member hotels and PTG Consulting clients on best practices in PR
  • Manage the output of external agencies and contractors in the Americas, as needed.
  • Manage and/or assign work to coordinators and/or interns, as appropriate
  • Accept any additional Preferred Travel Group duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum eight years of progressive experience in Public Relations. Agency experience required
  • Travel/hospitality experience required; experience working with clients based outside of the United States is preferred
  • Willingness to take on all aspects of client campaigns, no matter how large or small the task
  • Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills including writing for press releases, feature articles and talking points.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively handle multiple, concurrent demands and appropriately prioritize responsibilities
  • Knowledge of and strong relationships with North America media outlets, journalists and editors.
  • Detail oriented self-starter
  • Ability to travel
  • Technology and web savvy with proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
  • B.A. or B.S. in journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field
