For almost two centuries, Birmingham City University has shaped thousands of lives. We have helped redefine a city, influenced the region, and impacted further afield. From our roots as the Birmingham Government School of Design, we have forged a formidable history.

As a teaching-intensive University, our courses are rooted in practice-based learning, and we provide wider support that sets our students up to succeed after graduation. While this is our core focus, we recognise the enduring importance of research and enterprise activity, which is acknowledged within our newly launched strategy, setting us on our path to 2030 and beyond.

If you can see yourself joining our ambitious journey, then we certainly want to hear from you.

There are six opportunities available to join BCU as Director of School Operations, listed below. Applicants will be asked which of the six Schools they wish to be considered for during the application process. Where applicants wish to be considered for multiple Schools, we will ask for the Schools to be listed in preference order with the highest preference listed first.

School of Architecture, Built Environment, Computing & Engineering School of Arts School of Nursing and Midwifery School of Life and Health Sciences School of Law and Social Sciences Business School

The role

The Director of School Operations will lead in delivering all administrative operations in the School to ensure the effective management of non-academic colleagues and resources, and to underpin the work of the Dean and Heads of Department in aligning the newly-created School to the University's ambitious 2030 strategy.

Reporting to the Dean of School and acting as a member of the School Leadership Team, the Director of School Operations will work closely with colleagues across all University professional service teams to maximise performance and efficiency in support of School activities. The Director of School Operations will ensure the effective planning, allocation and management of workloads across the School in alignment with the University workload allocation model; producing reporting based on complex and diverse datasets to ensure informed-decision making.
