Founded in 1843, Marlborough College is the UK's largest co-educational full boarding school, educating over 1,000 pupils aged 13 to 18 years on a stunning 286-acre campus in Wiltshire. Our mission is to be recognised globally for our holistic education, which combines an outstanding academic provision, vibrant community spirit and broad co-curriculum designed to equip pupils to be intellectually agile innovators ready to make a difference in society. We are defined by Boundless Expectations, Meaningful Relationships, Breadth Open to All, and being Inspired by the World Around Us.
This is an exciting time to join the Marlborough College community. Under the Mastership of Louise Moelwyn-Hughes, we are working through an ambitious strategy of creating 100 full bursary places, The Marlborough Difference, expanding our outreach and community partnerships and executing our bold and sustainable campus master plan. This will ensure Marlborough continues to be a prestigious outward-looking and inclusive school where children with potential, regardless of means, are given the opportunity to excel.
Working closely with senior leaders, the Director of HR will lead the Human Resources function of the school and support the development of a forward-looking people strategy as part of the College's wider strategic agenda. The next Director of HR will develop first-class HR operations in support of a dynamic, growing and secure College and will take a lead in effective cross-functional collaboration with the College's legal, safeguarding, and governance stakeholders.
This role will suit someone who combines strategic HR leadership with a deep knowledge of employment law, compliance, and risk management. The successful candidate will have had significant exposure to legal and regulatory frameworks in HR and their application in a complex organisation. They will showcase an impressive command of detail and have the interpersonal and communication skills to lead a high-performing team in serving the wider strategic aims of the College.
