Activity enhances members' own services in situations where collective industry action adds value.This is a critical and high-profile opportunity to lead the Prudential, Reporting and Taxation Policy directorate within UK Finance working on behalf of members to achieve:

  • A proportionate international prudential regulatory regime, aligned to international standards, commensurate with the risks inherent in member cohorts' business models;
  • A governance, reporting and disclosure environment that aligns globally, meets investor and other stakeholder requirements and does not place undue compliance costs on members; and
  • An internationally competitive taxation regime for banks and their customers.
Some key responsibilities include:
  • Proactively manage prudential risks supporting the successful delivery of the related mortgage policy stream business plan priorities.
  • Ensure the team works collaboratively to deliver persuasive, evidence-based advocacy on priority policy, legal and regulatory issues, that reflect the breadth of members' interests, shaping:
  • A proportionate and competitive prudential regulatory regime
  • The development of prudential reporting and disclosure requirements
  • The UK and international tax environment
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key UK, EU and international legislators, regulators and supervisors and build relationships with key non-UK banking regulators and supervisors as well as multi-lateral organisations and global standard setters
  • Support other relevant policy teams to deliver their objectives as required, particularity by continued active engagement with the foreign banks, mid-tier, specialist bank cohorts, the mortgages stream and Sustainability Committee.
  • Collaborate with the membership, events and training team to develop a programme of events, training and/ or webinars, leveraging Associate Membership.
  • Support actively and contribute to the External Relations and Media teams' communication strategy through journalist briefings and other required materials, leveraging opportunities to influence media debate about financial services and providing regular blogs.
